So Maleficent is actually Elaine? Or is Morgana speaking to Aurora in the third panel? I don’t know which of those two is more mind-blowing. If Aurora is Elaine, I’m guessing she potentially is Elaine of Astolat, the Lady of Shallot who is in an unrequited romance with Lancelot (which would explain Guinevere’s antagonism towards her). If it’s Maleficent who is Elaine, then I would guess she is Elaine of Garlot, who is a sister of Morgana and Morgause.
BUT, alternatively, if the theory that Maleficent is Morgause proves to be correct, that would make things even more interesting if it’s actually Aurora who is Elaine of Garlot, because that makes her a sister in a previous life to Maleficent…
There was a scene where after Aurora faints from seeing the picture of Guinevere and encounters her wrath upon waking her up, where the ballad of the Lady of Shallot is mentioned. I’m not sure if this part will remain in the story but if so, perhaps, Aurora is Elaine, as in the Lady of Shallot?
I could be completely wrong, but I reading this I felt like Morgana was talking to Maleficent in that panel. She wanted her to hear this. As much as Aurora was angry, vengeful and reckless at that moment, as the sin of wrath herself, Maleficent clocks in pretty much perfectly

This scene changed a lot from the original version.
Exist many “Elaines” in the legend of the King Arthur.
Elaine of Astolat or “The lady of Sharlott”, who dying of sorrow for her love for Lancelot. Elaine of Benoic, who is the real mother of Lancelot before he is kidnapped and rise by the Lady of the Lake.
And also Elaine of Tintagel, lesser famous sister of Morgana and Morgause, the three of him forcer to marry vassals of King Uther, after the death of his father and the marriage of his mother with Uther.
The most famous one is Elaine of Corbenic, The Graal Maiden and Daughter of the Fisher King who become mother of Sir Galahad with Lancelot.
I guess that Maleficent is the Third??

So Maleficent is also Elaine in Arthurian legend. My guess would be the sister of Morgana/Morgan Le Fay and Morgause.

Well, I think that besides Morgana’s sister, Maleficent could also fulfill the role of Elaine of Astolat AKA the Lady of Shallott, as the reference to seeimg the outside world through a mirror hints. The Lady of Shallott was trapped in a tower near a river and Lancelot/Argus said that he used to live with this mother in a tower on the top of a mountain, so… could he be Maleficent/Elaine/The Lady of Shallott’s son??? The child asking their mom about a woman in a mirror could be Argus? This is just getting better. Thank you to the authors for this amazing story and this beautiful art.
Ironically I asked before this page was uploaded where the Lady Shallot page was, but the creators said that it’s no longer relevant. So Aurora might now be disconnected from the character/myth.

I love how Aurora originally looked confused and scared but now looks determined.

Well won’t that be something if Lancelot/Argus winds up being Maleficent’s/a previous incarnation of her son and he winds up being involved with Briar Rose (platonically or romantically)?

Pretty sure they said it is not canon anymore in tumblr
Shame. It was quite lovely.

I would love to see a platonic relationship between the two
I really love the changes done to the story.
