This is radically different now. Morgana just saved Aurora right on Maleficent’s face!

Now this is entirely new. Originally, Maleficent sent Aurora through the portal to the nexus. Now it’s Morgana telling Aurora to make a run for the portal.
Agreed! And in this version Maleficent is even more spiteful and angry with Rose, so it makes sense that she’d rather just kill her than send her through the nexus.

Morgana seems to really care for Aurora or find her important enough to keep saving her.
Based on how similar they look? My money is on she’s her descendant in some form or fashion (based on what the creators have hinted at, probably by Arthur). I fully expect to be wrong though, anything can happen in this story lol.

So, here’s what we know so far:
1) Guinevere, Maleficent, and Morgana were all Merlin’s apprentices.
2) Guinevere was the most powerful sorceress out of the three, and she berated Maleficent by calling her “The little nobody of Le Fay”. The epithet “Le Fay” was actually Morgana’s.
3) According to Eilonwy, Morgana is either King Arthur’s sister, somebody who was in love with Lancelot, whom she called “Argus” or somebody who desired the throne.
4) Guinevere is the wife of King Arthur, but rumors say that she had an affair with Lancelot.
5) Morgana hated the relationship between Lancelot and Guinevere.
6) Maleficent’s real name is Elaine.
7) Aurora seems to be a descendant of King Arthur, but she never returned to her world.
8) Eilonwy is an imposter who is not related to the royal family.
9) Aurora caused a curse to happen by kissing Guinevere.
10) Together, the three sorceresses are capable of destroying worlds.
11) Maleficent is the sin of Wrath, but Argus calls Aurora the “Rage princess”.
12) Lancelot told Aurora that his lover is a queen.
13) In the new version, Guinevere doesn’t tell Aurora to stay away from her Lancelot.
14) Argus is the son of a sorceress.
15) Ariadne is Aurora’s past life, and she is a dreamer.
16) Ariadne’s soul is divided.
My theory:
1) There is a painting portraying The Lady of Shalott AKA “Elaine of Astolat” in a boat that is shaped like a dragon (by John Atkinson Grimshaw). Elaine of Astolat was madly in love with Lancelot, but he kept rejecting her in favor of Guinevere. Elaine had a heart attack from grief. I think this is who Maleficent is. The key is Aurora’s connection to these three sorceresses.
2) The word “Maleficent” means “causing harm or destruction, especially by supernatural means”. I think the original “Maleficent” was Morgana of Le Fay. Unless all three of them were “Maleficents”. Or maybe Morgnana cursed Elaine and passed that name to her, including Wrath.
3) Elaine was in love with Lancelot. Her vendetta against Aurora is unreasonably personal. Could Aurora also be the reincarnation of one of these three sorceresses? The one who she has the most striking resemblance with is Morgana, but this could also be because she is a descendant of King Arthur (if Morgana is really Arthur’s sister).
But if Maleficent really is Elaine of Astolat, then her beef would be with Guinevere because they both wanted Lancelot, or maybe not. Lancelot being with Guinevere was just a rumor, and Guinevere no longer confirms it to Aurora in the new version of chapter 9.
What if, all three rumors that Eilonwy talked about regarding Morgana were true? What if she indeed was Arthur’s sister, loved Lancelot, and wanted the throne at the same time? If Arthur died without an heir, the next in line to the throne would be Morgana.
So, maybe the redheaded queen that he was involved with was in fact Morgana instead of Guinevere. Whatever Aurora’s connection is to Morgana, Elaine hates her and wants to see her suffer. When she was asked why she tortured and murdered Phillip, she said “Because it’s exactly what you deserve”.
If Aurora is Morgana’s reincarnation, then it makes sense that Elaine would seek revenge. Her past life took the love of her life and cursed her.
Maybe both Ariadne and Morgana are Aurora’s past lives. Ariadne was sympathetic towards the sins and the Third One, though. Morgana is in the Citadel and dangerously close to Elaine, though.
Unless, of course, Ariadne’s divided soul is the three sorceresses, and they are all connected to Aurora somehow, but this might be far-fetched.
The three golden rose rings we see when Aurora falls through the portal seem to indicate that they belonged to Morgana, Maleficent, and Guinevere. And this opening of this comic begins with Aurora finding one of those golden rose rings. So that does seem to further confirm that Aurora is connected with one or all three of these women.
I don’t think Aurora is a reincarnation of Morgana only because if they share the same soul, we wouldn’t see Morgana communicating with Aurora to tell her to go through the portal. And Morgana wouldn’t be in the Crimson Citadel while Aurora is in London. I know Carmilla is a reincarnation of Snow White and Rose Red’s broken souls, but she’s an exception and an anomaly that shouldn’t have existed as a result of Snow White and Rose Red’s souls splitting. That doesn’t seem to be the case for Aurora.
But there’s definitely a connection with Morgana and Aurora. I think all three of your #3 points are true: Morgana is Arthur’s sister, she wants the throne, and she loves Lancelot. All of that is true in the mythology. I also think Morgana and Arthur share a son, Mordred, if he does appear in this comic.
Lancelot/Argus was designed to be a male disguise for Maleficent before he became his own character. That’s why he has such a strong resemblance to Maleficent and it’s also why I think he’s got some personal relation to Maleficent. Maybe in this comic, he’s her son or brother? But if Elaine was in love with Lancelot, that makes it unlikely.
I wonder if the common thread between Morgana, Maleficent, and Guinevere isn’t just that they’re all three sorceresses but also that they were all in love with Lancelot/Argus.

I’ve been reading the theories above and they are all pretty good, so I decided to share one single theory I’ve had for many years:
All of us have been wondering how Aurora fits in the Arthurian world. Well, maybe she IS “king” Arthur.
I don’t remember all the references that made me think this (specially since there have been many changes in the dialogues and scenes lately) but if you think about it, it makes sense.

I like this version much more.
Same. I honestly enjoy all the changes.
