Well,Amaro also means ‘bitter’ in Italian (and Tristan is similar to the Italian word ‘Triste’ which means ‘sad’) so I think it’s more of a nod to that.
So the Golden Emissaries are all brothers then. I can’t imagine Lewis and Tristan to be related. I wonder who the eldest brother is.

First off, WOAH. I know they eventually marry but this still breaks my heart.
Second, Tristan’s necklace stone is red in the flashback but blue in the current time. I wonder if that means something.
Same here. I always hated that “I trusted you!” trope where the main character and another character break off their friendship or romance halfway through the story or movie.

What if Drácula is the poder brother? 😱 a dreamer and a emissarie in tragic love.
The older brother (and the first man) is Dorian. Tristan is explaining how Dorian didn’t want the help of the emissaries, so each of them four chose a different path.
But you might be into something with Dracula being an emissary… That would be indeed a tragic love story with Aria!
Thank you! I thought that Dorian didn’t count because he was the first and he created men ok ok, I like this easter eggs about him 👀 specially because is not his time yet to appear.
Me seing a blonde Drácula in the cómic (or any blonde male from now on): EMISSARY!
Interesting. That means Dorian is the First Man because the First Man was expelled from the garden of the goddesses. But the Third One gave the First Man “four traveling companions” so that means there are really five brothers in total.
Maybe the lore Will change a little bit because according to Quetzal the third one was expelled from the garden, and Dorian himself said that the goddesses killed him after the Snow White and Rose Red business.
I am now suspecting Rolland of being the fourth brother. He is Snow White’s guard from Chapter 5, page 1. This character was important enough to be given a name, and design-wise, his face kind of looks like Tristan’s. He even has a similar skin tone and a pair of earrings.
That’s a good theory. I remember thinking that guard looked out of place in Snow White’s world with his particular looks. And the fact that what seems like a minor character who would only appear in that one page has his name tagged definitely suggests he’ll show up again.
Yes! This makes so much sense. We have a guard with an actual name and looks too detailed to simply be a one shot character so there has to be more to him than simply being one of Florian and Snow White’s guards.

That still doesn’t explain why Tristan was visiting Arista’s world to begin with. Especially if it wasn’t because of his actual mission which he’s been ignoring for years because the Third One’s son, Dorian/Rumpelstiltskin, wanted to be a loner. What I’d also like to know is after Bethalda turns back time, what became of Tristan. If he’s still around, does he still remember Arista? Does she remember him?
I think they should remember each other. Berthalda erased Ariel’s wedding day, while Arista and Tristan met some time before Ariel saved Eric from the storm. This particular page might be in fact happening before or shortly after the storm. We don’t know exactly how much time passed between Tristan seeing Ariel in the grotto and him meeting Arista. But unless it’s debunked, I believe this could be happening the same day.
So they might remember each other really well, especially this heart breaking moment.
That could be the case and I hope so. I just recalled that Claudio was also affected by the time spell so he also believes the new history regarding Eric’s wedding where Ariel either walked out or disappeared that day. I thought that maybe it affected everyone else that way.

Well, what kind of consoles me they’ll eventually get over it and end up living happily together. Until Bertha ruins everything (so I’ll call it temporary consolation).
Also, woooow, Tristan-honeyyy!! What a man! OuO <3
I think pirate Tristan goes definitely to my top 1 sexy male characters from the comic. Redhead, pirate and a cute beard? Sorry, I’m just a girl :DD
Also, Amaro is a beautiful name. And starts with an A, like the names of the dreamers. Maybe the original names of the emissaries also start with an A?

I’m starting to notice a parallel between Arista and the little mermaid of Hans Christian Andersen. They both share the same features (blonde girls with eyes ‘as blue as the prettiest cornflowers’), and the comment Arista makes about tears reminds me of a paragraph from the original fairy tale: “But a mermaid has no tears, and therefore she suffers so much more.”

So why is Arista angry at Tristan exactly? Because he’s a human?
I mean, probably not only hiding from her the fact that he belongs to a species with which she has a traumatic experience but also lying to her about making her an accomplice in helping Ursula, and I think that is the most serious part.
Yeah, part of it is clearly that he was working for Ursula which is a big no no in her kingdom, although, as we can clearly see, it wasn’t a mutual alliance at all. The other was hiding who he truly was from her.
Amaro? Like that Italian Liqueur?
Well, Amaro also means ‘bitter’ in Italian (and Tristan is similar to the Italian word ‘Triste’ which means ‘sad’) so I think it’s more of a nod to that.
I did a little searching and found that Amaro was a saint that sailed the sea searching for heaven, there is also stories of captain Redbeard!
That’s so cool!
