This poses so many new questions… How did Rose Red find out that her aunt was murdered by her husband? From these new panels we learn that Snow and Frederick both believe it was an illness that killed them both, so Rosie could have only learnt of this either by eavesdropping on servants/courtiers, or because Althea in her butterfly form was showing her a vision or something of the sort. And that leads to another question: the real reason behind Beatrix’s death. Was it really murder? Was it illness? Was it a plot?

In later chapters when Snow meets the Mirror, he states Snow has killed someone, and back then my theory was that Snow was somehow involved in the death of her sister-in-law. However, from the new pages it feels like she herself is quite sad at the turn of events, and I can’t imagine any reason as to why she would want Beatrix dead… Or maybe it was unintentional? Like some vague offhand remark that got taken seriously? (like with Thomas Beckett and Henry II of England)

On a sidenote, for the writers, on a lore-question. Technically Snow is the heir to the Gutenberg throne, and she is now Queen consort with Frederick as the monarch, correct? Because Beatrix is said to be fron Aldenburg, so I’m guessing Frederick is also from there originally, but does that mean his parents are still alive and ruling there? And if so, is Frederick their heir too? Or is he a spare son? Frederick says “my father gave me no choice” so I assume they are alive then… Will Snow eventually be a queen twice over then?

I’m confused about the same thing. Snow White’s inner dialogue suggests that she believes it was an illness. And that does beg the question of why Rose Red believes otherwise. Probably a plot point for later but it’s strange to see two different statements of Beatrix’s death on the same page.

I wonder if the Goddess that is worshipped in Snow White’s world is the First One, Snow White’s real mother, or the Second One, the real mother of Rose Red.

If I recall correctly according to a tumblr answer years ago it was said to be the Spring Sprite of Fantasia 2000 but maybe it´s different now

So was it illness or murder? According to Snow White, both Beatrix and her husband fell ill while on a journey after their marriage. Yet Rose Red states it was murder. Did the husband make the murder look like an illness? Sounds like something more out of a horror film and less from Disney.

I’m willing to bet Althea lied to little Rose Red about Beatrix being killed by her husband in an attempt to prevent the original Snow White and Rose Red from being reunited in the end.
