And I almost thought Aquata was a new character since her darker skin caught me off guard. Not that I’m complaining at all! But I’m curious because she wasn’t as brown on page 3.5-5. Her color contrast is gorgeous!
People were guessing that Tristan is from the human world and became a merman. If he’s using henna, that does seem to suggest he’s from the human world since I don’t think he’d have access to it underwater.
She actually was, but there’s so much lightning that all them look paler. Tristan as a character conception technically would be Spanish (from Spain), if that makes any sense in this super mixed universe 😁

Now I’m curious. Was the focus on Tristan’s hair already planned, or did it stem from the questions about his hair in the comments section of the previous pages?
Yes, the hair scene was always there and necessary for specific reasons 🙂

Also, in chapter eleven Ariel said she always wanted to have Arista’s blonde hair, and now we discover Arista wants to try having Ariel’s red hair! Such a cute detail.
I know Disney couldn’t afford to animate all the cute little accessories and trinkets that mermaids wear but seeing them here makes me so happy. I love the personality in everyone’s accessory of choice. Just in general the mermaids have the best designs so far!

If we didn’t already know they end up married in the future I’d have this gnawing feeling that he’d just disappear without a word to Arista. Btw, was Tristan based off of any fairytale/myth/folktale figures, or is he fully an original character? I guess if he is based on something it could be a spoiler but if you can just say inspired or original it would sate my curiousty 🙂
Tristan’s name is based on a character from Arthurian legend, but I don’t think he represents that character here since King Arthur is from Aurora’s world (I think) and not Ariel’s.

This is kinda of a dumb headcannon to admit but I always assumed Aquata and Adella were twins because of how similar they looked and how they were born next to each other.

Tristan will be one of the four aurei legati like Lewis in Alice’s world and hide his blond hair using henna.
Arista has a part of Ariadne soul inside her. After all the dreamer said in her letter that her soul will be divide. Moreover if we look dreamers ( Quetzal/ Alice/ Rapunzel) hairstyle we can notice if they’re blonde their drawing lines are white like Arista.
And if Alice, a Dreamer, and Lewis, a Aurei Legati, live in the same world why not imagine it could be the same for others?
