Knowing that they’re still together in the future brings me relief! I think this is the first time in the comic that we see a romantic relationship develop before our eyes. They’re so cute together!
Yet, unless this part changes later, if I’m not mistaken, the last time we see Ariel’s sisters, they were shrunk down into a fishbowl and Hilda wanted to put a pair of plastic legs on Arista.Tristan was nowhere in sight, and Hilda bit off Andrina’s head off before throwing her back into the fishbowl. I hope Tristan is still around by then.
There is such a sadness and anxiety in this chapter, even in these cute moments Arista has with Tristan, especially knowing how badly Melody’s birthday party will go.
Hmmm I just assumed he’s from a different mer kingdom, like there are lake mermaids etc, and we know Ariel’s world / planet is dominated by water… but now I’m wondering if he’s from a completely different world! But Ursula partnered up with him before movie events, so I’m assuming it’s before she meets Dorian and Carmilla and the rest… did Dorian or someone else we know sent Tristan here? What for?
Funny, I actually thought the flip side, that he was some type of cursed being like Ursula since he was once her business partner, but a human would make some sense. Basically Ursula could have turned him into a merman and in exchange, have him run some business errands for her.
One thing’s for certain: if he turns out to be a human, he and Arista will basically be the better version of Ariel and Eric.

That was smooth. Seems Tristan charges kisses! Though I wonder what became of Tristan later. The last time we see Ariel’s sisters, Ursula had them at the Citadel, shrunk down into a fishbowl and Tristan was nowhere to be seen. Also, Hilda was hellbent on putting a pair of plastic legs on Arista to play mermaid princess with her. Oh, and Andrina’s head got bit off!
Yes, I can see the resemblance now that you mention it. Considering Ariel was originally supposed to be blonde, until Disney wanted to change her design since they already did a blonde mermaid in Splash, this gives us a good idea on what we could have gotten.

I’m very curious about Tristan’s life story. What burdens he’s had and if he’s related to anybody we know.
I like them together a lot, but something bad will happen soon, I can tell 🙁
