At least, now we kind of know why Jafar is there. I always found it kind of weird that we have all these deadly sins–and then Jafar is just sitting there, the only male in the room besides Dorian.
I wondered about that too since the Seven Sins are all women but Jafar seemed to be equal in status to them at the dinner table scene.
This scene also gives us foreshadowing that Ursula was cursed in her octopus form. She calls Maleficent’s appearance an abomination so it’s clear that looking like a monster wouldn’t be her choice.
Makes me wonder if Maleficent was always green and had horns in this story or if she was also cursed like Ursula. We haven’t gotten her backstory yet.
Same, I always wondered about that too. I always thought this was her normal appearance and she had horns naturally but I know a lot of people think her horns are just a headdress and she’s got hair covered up like Grimhilde in her movie outfit.
To be fair, Maleficent’s “horns” we’re always meant to be a highly stylized wimple (wich on it’s own it’s just a medieval headpiece), even if you look at concept art of her, she wasn’t really *meant* to have “horns”
The misconception may come from lack of explanation (i mean… If you tell me those are ACTUAL horns, of course i would believe it, after all, that’s their silhouette) or the live-action films “canonizing” that dark fairies have horns
There’s also the subject of her being green, but maybe Disney just wanted to reference The Wicked Witch of The West?
Berthalda hair has pink highlights?? Whats her deal with the hair?? I guess Gaston and Dark Phil really are her “dolls”, in more than one way.
