Jealousy is an ugly, irrational thing indeed. The queen could’ve just been the in-law that openly mocks her like a sitcom instead.

This is a fairy tale though. Fairy tales are full of suspicious evil mother-in-laws out to kill or frame their sons’ new brides due to jealousy and wickedness. After the evil stepmother or stepsisters, the evil mother-in-law is a common trope as well in fairy tales.

The Queen’s obsession with her son seems a bit… incestuous, her envy is truly giving me the creeps. Poor Isabel though 🙁
The art is always so wonderful! May I ask what does the symbolism mean in the picture with the spiders?

Seems to me to symbolize the queen mother poisoning her daughter-in-law.

It comes across that way to me too. Maybe that’s why she doesn’t have a son in her life as Agatha Tremaine but daughters instead.

Agnes, Catalina, whoever you once were and whoever you are now are one and the same. Once a bitch, always a bitch. Also, the image with the spiders is gorgeous.
